PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bekah Robson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Ernie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bert Ernie was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bekah Robson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bert Ernie!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ernie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Robson tries to clinch but Ernie moves out of range.
Robson tries to close the distance and clinch but Ernie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Robson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Robson is looking to clinch but Ernie is avoiding it.

Robson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Robson throws an elbow but it misses.
Ernie can't get the takedown.
Ernie is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Robson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Ernie has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Robson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Ernie lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

Robson finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes.

Ernie swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Robson is now in Ernie's guard. A big mistake from Ernie there, giving up the dominant position!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ernie can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ernie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Robson is aware though and is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ernie is trying to maintain the position but Robson is very close to passing his half guard.

Ernie looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Robson pushes past his half guard into mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ernie is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Robson blocks Ernie's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Robson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ernie manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Robson misses with a head kick.
Robson tries to clinch but Ernie is having none of it.
Robson is looking to clinch but Ernie is avoiding it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nice takedown defense from Robson. No joy for Ernie on that attempt.
Bekah Robson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bert Ernie.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bekah Robson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ernie is going olschool here, as he tries to force Robson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Robson shrugs it off.

Ernie goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Robson turns into him and now he's in Ernie's guard.

Ernie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Robson defends well.

Ernie wants to hit a switch here but Robson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ernie there!

Ernie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ernie wants to control but Robson is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ernie is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ernie tries to lock up and control but Robson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ernie is in all sorts of trouble here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ernie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Robson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Robson is posturing up here but Ernie has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Robson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Robson has to tap! Slick submission there by Ernie!
