Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 2305 p4p, 3645 weight class) and Balink Tarlah (ranked 296 p4p, 420 weight class). Balink Tarlah has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corwin Anstey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Balink Tarlah!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anstey decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anstey is thwarting Tarlah's attempts to control the position.
Tarlah tries to get to full guard but Anstey has control of the leg.
Well, if Anstey is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Anstey seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tarlah for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tarlah wants to improve his position but Anstey is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anstey takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Anstey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tarlah does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Tarlah is looking to control Anstey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tarlah avoid being mounted?
Tarlah won't allow Anstey to pass to mount.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Anstey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tarlah does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tarlah takes one to the chin there.
Anstey throws a head kick that misses.
Anstey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tarlah.

Anstey shoots in and bounces Tarlah off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Anstey controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Anstey stopping the sweep attempt from Tarlah.

Anstey looking to sit in guard and control but Tarlah gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Tarlah works over Anstey with some ground and pound from guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tarlah's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Tarlah wants to control from the top but Anstey keeps moving.
Tarlah stopping the sweep attempt from Anstey.
Anstey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tarlah's guard.

Tarlah looking for a sweep. Not yet Tarlah, not yet.
Tarlah pulls Anstey in close to his closed guard and prevents Anstey from doing any damage or advancing position.
Anstey content to stall in guard here.
Tarlah wants to control the position but Anstey says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tarlah tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Anstey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It looked like Anstey wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Tarlah is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Anstey.
Tarlah throws a jab when Anstey was well out of range.

Tarlah swings widly with a right hand
and Tarlah takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A punch lands to the side of Anstey 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A big left from Tarlah misses.
Tarlah throws an off balance right hand
and Anstey counters with a series of strikes. Tarlah will be more careful next time no doubt.
Tarlah throws an overhand right that lands on Anstey's shoulder, as Anstey tries to avoid the shot.

Anstey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tarlah tries to roll over but Anstey keeps him under control.

Anstey thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tarlah's head.
Tarlah is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Anstey seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Anstey tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tarlah knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tarlah is looking to control Anstey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tarlah avoid being mounted?
Anstey winds up and cracks Tarlah with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Tarlah tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tarlah pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Tarlah misses with a left hand
and Anstey makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Anstey moves in looking to clinch but Tarlah pushes him off.

Anstey shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tarlah is trying to defend but Anstey finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Tarlah kicks off Anstey and gets to his feet.

The crowd cheers as Anstey lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tarlah doesn't seem phased though.
Balink Tarlah is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Tarlah is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Anstey just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Tarlah has gone limp and this one is over!
