Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jian Zhao (ranked 996 p4p, 1231 weight class) and Michael Barnes (ranked 97 p4p, 110 weight class). Zhao kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dirty Harry (Schtung Chinese New Year Remix) - Gorillaz. Jian Zhao has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zhao throws a hook but Barnes blocks it.
Zhao uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barnes.
Barnes throws a good cross that connects.
A head kick misses from Zhao.
Zhao throws a hook to the side of Barnes's head but Barnes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Barnes has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Zhao is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Zhao looks to score with a jab to the body but Barnes is just out of range.
Barnes finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Zhao lands with a kick to the ribs.
Barnes attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Zhao feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Barnes misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zhao scores with a head kick. Barnes tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Zhao swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Zhao counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Barnes walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Zhao checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Zhao ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barnes moves away.
Barnes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Zhao sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Barnes or perhaps it was just good defense by Zhao, which made it look bad.
Zhao moves away from the strike by Barnes.
Barnes lands with a hook. Zhao tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Barnes scores with a jab to the jaw.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Barnes. Zhao shrugs it off though.
Barnes throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Barnes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Barnes connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Zhao ducks under a wild hook from Barnes.
Barnes wants to land a leg kick but Zhao is out of range.
Barnes cracks Zhao with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Zhao checks a leg kick.
Zhao missing with a left hand there. Barnes was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Zhao walks into a left hand.
Barnes throws a body punch but Zhao moves out of range.
Barnes looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Barnes trying to control the position from guard on top but Zhao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Barnes distracts Zhao with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Zhao is controlling Barnes's posture.
Barnes content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Zhao has locked up a guillotine! Zhao's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Barnes is holding on here and Zhao must be using up a lot of energy. Barnes has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Zhao gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
