Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jarkko Hakulinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerry Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hakulinen comes to the cage accompanied by Last of the Mohicans Theme. Gerry Butler will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jarkko Hakulinen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerry Butler!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakulinen takes one to the chin there.


It looks like Jarkko Hakulinen has been cut.

Hakulinen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hakulinen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Butler looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Butler looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Butler!
Hakulinen sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Butler seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Butler is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hakulinen is just riding it out for now. Butler eventually gives up the hold.

Hakulinen actively working from the bottom here.
Hakulinen wants to improve his position but Butler is controlling well.
Butler throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hakulinen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Butler misses with a double jab.
Hakulinen throws a right and a left that both miss.
Butler throws a sloppy head kick and Hakulinen moves out of range easily.
Butler throws a right and a left that Hakulinen avoids nicely.
Butler leaves Hakulinen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gerry Butler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Butler tries a head kick but it misses.
Butler scores with a sloppy right hand. Hakulinen should have avoided that one.

Hakulinen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Butler wants to stand up but Hakulinen is controlling him.
Hakulinen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hakulinen prevents Butler from getting back to his feet.

Hakulinen drops back looking for a leg! Butler is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Butler manages to kick Hakulinen off! Hakulinen jumps back into Butler's guard.
Hakulinen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Hakulinen is breathing heavily.
Hakulinen tries to advance to mount but Butler denies him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Donk. Butler catches Hakulinen right on the button with a cross.

Hakulinen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
You can see the frustration on Butler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hakulinen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Butler rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hakulinen's guard! Nice work there by Butler!

Butler advances to half guard.

Butler is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hakulinen defends it well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hakulinen is trying to get back to full guard.
Hakulinen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Hakulinen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Butler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Butler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hakulinen working for a triangle but Butler defends it easily.
Hakulinen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hakulinen has his foot on Butler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Butler works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jarkko Hakulinen will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Butler lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Butler.
Hakulinen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Butler tries to bum rush Hakulinen with a series of wild strikes but Hakulinen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nice takedown defense from Butler. No joy for Hakulinen on that attempt.
Butler keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hakulinen slips a jab and a cross from Butler.
Hakulinen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Butler.
Hakulinen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Butler.
Butler avoids the body shot from Hakulinen.
Jarkko Hakulinen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hakulinen walks into a straight right hand from Butler.
Butler lands a hook that stumbles Hakulinen back into the cage. Butler follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Hakulinen to the canvas! Butler pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Hakulinen has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
