PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Orla Wanker (ranked 1900 p4p, 1426 weight class) and Seppo Maki (ranked 253 p4p, 197 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Seppo Maki was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maki moves into range and connects with a jab.

It looks like Orla Wanker has been cut.
No joy there for Wanker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Maki bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wanker's head.

Wanker shoots in looking for a takedown but Maki manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wanker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Maki appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Maki has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A slapping body kick lands there for Wanker.

Wanker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maki for as long as he can get away with.
Wanker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wanker throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Maki stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Maki defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wanker.

Wanker uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

and Maki counters with a nice low kick that buckles Wanker's knee momentarily.

Wanker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maki tries to avoid it but Wanker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maki to the ground. Maki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Orla Wanker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maki lands a big head kick that sends Wanker tumbling to the mat! Maki takes a step backwards and waves Wanker back to his feet - he wants the finish!
