Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Thompson (ranked 574 p4p, 760 weight class) and Batara Sari (ranked 82 p4p, 108 weight class). Thompson comes to the cage accompanied by The Cranberries - Zombie. Batara Sari is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, David Thompson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Batara Sari!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sari looks to land a right hand but Thompson moved out of range.
Thompson cracks Sari with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Thompson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Sari tries for a takedown but Thompson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Thompson misses the target.
Sari takes a swing at Thompson's ribcage but misses.
Thompson just misses with a punch to the body.
A little jabbing left from Sari on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Thompson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sari.
Thompson drops his hands momentarily and Sari takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Sari has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Thompson scores with a nice strike.
Thompson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Thompson throws the left hand but Sari avoids the punch easily.
Thompson misses the shot to the body.
Sari ducks under a wild hook from Thompson.
Thompson swings away with a body shot that misses

and Sari counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Thompson!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thompson tries to buck Sari off but Sari is having none of it.
Thompson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Thompson throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Sari manages to pass to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thompson can't do much from the bottom here.

Sari is working to tighten his grip on Thompson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Thompson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Sari is really squeezing tight and eventually Thompson passes out! Sari breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Batara Sari!
Batara Sari is the new middleweight champion!
Post fight, an emotional Batara Sari said 'I'm the first two time 185lb champ here at KIFC and I want to be the first two division champ as well! If it's Kovacheckers or that Geezer who comes out with the belt I want next!'.
The defeated David Thompson had this to say: 'This loss is unacceptable, I blame everyone but myself for this outcome. The refs, the judges, my coaches, every stinkin' person on this island.'.
