PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Clinchevsky (ranked 25268 p4p, 5852 weight class) and Hendrik Van Tonder (ranked 535 p4p, 523 weight class). Clinchevsky comes to the cage accompanied by Primer 55 - Loose. Van Tonder has chosen Orkney snork nie as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hendrik Van Tonder!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clinchevsky defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Van Tonder.
Van Tonder looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Clinchevsky fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Van Tonder sprawls well initially but Clinchevsky persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clinchevsky in particular looking to stall.
Van Tonder felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Clinchevsky manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Van Tonder on his heels. He'll look to pass Van Tonder's guard now, I'm sure.
