PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tanjiro Namikaze (ranked 2922 p4p, 3686 weight class) and Rafa Peziev (ranked 244 p4p, 294 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tanjiro Namikaze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rafa Peziev!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peziev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Peziev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Namikaze, pushing him back against the cage.
Peziev is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Namikaze gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Namikaze has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Peziev after a bit of a struggle.
Peziev drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Namikaze gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tanjiro Namikaze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafa Peziev.
Namikaze is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Peziev pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Peziev drops down looking for an ankle pick but Namikaze pulls his leg out and moves away.
Namikaze closes this distance looking for a takedown but Peziev circles away.
Namikaze goes for a double leg but Peziev avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Peziev continues to drive forward.
Peziev lands with a short punch from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Namikaze is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Peziev is defending well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Namikaze wants to control from the top but Peziev keeps moving.
Namikaze postures up and lands a big shot to Peziev's brow.
Namikaze passes Peziev's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Namikaze winds up and cracks Peziev with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Namikaze slips a nice elbow through Peziev's hands, connecting with Peziev's forehead.

Namikaze lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Peziev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Namikaze pulls his head out easily.

Namikaze knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peziev on the ground.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Peziev shoots in looking for a takedown. Namikaze tries to sprawl out of it but Peziev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Namikaze manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Peziev takes a swing at Namikaze's ribcage but misses.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Namikaze fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Peziev avoids it really well and circles away.
Peziev darts in looking for a takedown but Namikaze gets double underhooks and turns Peziev into the cage.

Peziev drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Peziev jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Namikaze wants to sweep here but Peziev controlling him for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Peziev postures up in Namikaze's guard and throws a big left but Namikaze blocks it.

Namikaze slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Peziev trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Peziev drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Peziev seems to have locked his on tight now - Namikaze screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Peziev, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Rafa Peziev!
After winning the bout, Rafa Peziev thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
