PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adrian Galanis (ranked 1976 p4p, 1605 weight class) and Guy Le Franc (ranked 257 p4p, 223 weight class). Guy Le Franc told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adrian Galanis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guy Le Franc!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le Franc stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Galanis waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Le Franc.
Le Franc fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Le Franc on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Galanis misses with an uppercut.
Galanis throws a hook to the side of Le Franc's head but Le Franc sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Galanis falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Le Franc to counter with a crisp jab.
Galanis takes one to the chin there.

Le Franc takes the fight into the clinch.
Le Franc misses with a punch to the body.
Galanis throws a head punch that misses.
Galanis tries to break the clinch but Le Franc is controlling the position.

Galanis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Le Franc ducks under a wild hook from Galanis.
Le Franc looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Adrian Galanis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Le Franc moves into range and clinches up with Galanis.

Galanis lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Le Franc has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Le Franc moves into range and clinches up with Galanis.

Le Franc manages to break the clinch.
Galanis looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Le Franc displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Galanis throws out the jab.

Galanis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Le Franc moves away.

Le Franc is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Galanis.

Le Franc might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Le Franc swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Galanis.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A solid leg kick lands there for Galanis.

Le Franc fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A frustrated look appears on Galanis's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Le Franc pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Galanis throws a shot from downtown. Le Franc moves away and avoids it.
Galanis takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Galanis misses with a hook.
Galanis throws a front kick aimed at Le Franc's knee but Le Franc avoids it well.
Galanis throws a left and a right that both miss
and Le Franc counters with a low kick, right behind Galanis 's knee.

Le Franc cracks Galanis with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Le Franc has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Galanis to stand back up!
Oh Galanis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Le Franc ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Galanis swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Galanis throws a hook to the side of Le Franc's head but Le Franc sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Le Franc lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Galanis at a distance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Guy Le Franc dominated that round.

Le Franc throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Galanis missing with a left hand there. Le Franc was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Galanis throws out a loose jab but Le Franc uses good head movement to avoid it.
Galanis seems to have got his legs back now.

and Le Franc counters with a nice right hand that sends Galanis toppling to the canvas! Galanis scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Le Franc finish him?!

Le Franc has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Le Franc has Galanis up against the cage in a clinch.
Le Franc throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Galanis is trying to force a seperation but Le Franc has the dominant position.
Galanis has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Le Franc creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Galanis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Galanis rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Le Franc counters with a crisp right hand that drops Galanis! Le Franc lets Galanis back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Le Franc has closed the distance and engaged Galanis in a clinch.
Galanis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Galanis can't break the clinch.

Le Franc breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Galanis works over Le Franc's head and body with a nice combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Le Franc escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Galanis misses with a straight left.
Galanis looks to throw the jab but Le Franc is out of range.
Galanis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Le Franc cracks Galanis with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Galanis tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Le Franc pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Galanis is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Guy Le Franc!
