PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Head (ranked 24531 p4p, 4521 weight class) and Mc Muffin (ranked 541 p4p, 478 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richard Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mc Muffin !
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muffin looks to throw the jab but Head is out of range.
Head half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Head could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Good standup being displayed there by Head as he connects with a hook.
Head shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Muffin sprawls well. Muffin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Head gets slowly back to his feet.
And Muffin tries to counter it with a takedown but Head pushes his down on his head and steps out.
We've been hearing reports that Head has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Muffin wants to pass the guard but Head is keeping the position.
Muffin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Head looks to throw the jab but Muffin is out of range.

Head shoots in but Muffin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Muffin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Head wants to control but Muffin is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Muffin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Head is pressing down on Muffin 's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Muffin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Head wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mc Muffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Muffin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Mc Muffin was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
