Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Chugman (ranked 928 p4p, 1369 weight class) and Jim Reefer (ranked 133 p4p, 192 weight class). Jim Reefer acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 41 - 38 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klaus Chugman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Reefer!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reefer avoids the body shot from Chugman.
Chugman misses with a jab, cross combination.

Chugman gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Chugman misses with a hook to the ribs.
Reefer misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Chugman blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Chugman throws a head punch that misses.
Reefer lands a left hand.

Chugman gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Reefer regains guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chugman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Reefer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Reefer has escaped and now he's on top!


Chugman is looking for a triangle but Reefer pushes his legs off easily.
Reefer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Chugman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reefer sitting in guard here, content to control.
Chugman pulls Reefer in close to his closed guard and prevents Reefer from doing any damage or advancing position.

Chugman has his foot on Reefer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reefer works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reefer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Reefer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Chugman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Chugman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Chugman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ground and pound from Chugman seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Reefer is trying to control Chugman's posture but Chugman avoids it.
Chugman is trying to ground and pound but Reefer uses the momentary lack of control by Chugman to regain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chugman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reefer's head.

Reefer is looking to improve his position.
Chugman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Reefer can do to turn this around?
Chugman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Chugman here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Reefer wants to control but Chugman is keeping busy.
We've been hearing that Chugman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Reefer is refusing to be controlled, as Chugman sits in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reefer is looking to improve his position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Chugman is trying to control the action in half guard but Reefer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Reefer fails to land with a series of punches.
Chugman misses with a looping left.
A little jabbing left from Reefer on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Reefer throws the left hand but Chugman avoids the punch easily.
Reefer takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Chugman gets a clinch.
Reefer fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Reefer is pressed up against the cage. Chugman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Reefer down to the mat. Reefer avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Reefer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chugman was well out of range. Poor timing from Reefer.

Chugman clinches up with Reefer and pushes him back against the cage.
Chugman jumps guard but Reefer stands there with Chugman around his waist. Chugman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Chugman throws a head punch that misses.
Chugman throws a punch but it's blocked by Reefer.
Reefer struggles to land a body shot inside as Chugman controls his hands.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klaus Chugman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chugman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Reefer pulls his leg out and moves away.

A punch lands to the side of Reefer 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Reefer throws a looping overhand right but Chugman ducks down to avoid it.
Chugman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Reefer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chugman.
Chugman throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Reefer misses with a double jab.
Reefer takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Reefer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reefer wants it to stay on the feet.
Reefer follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Reefer is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Chugman is trying to break the clinch but Reefer has him pressed against the cage.

Chugman jumps guard but Reefer turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Reefer tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Chugman's elbow.

Reefer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Reefer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Let's hope that Reefer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Chugman controls Reefer momentarily but Reefer frees himself.
Reefer is looking to pass into half guard but Chugman pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Chugman is in guard.

Reefer is pulling down on Chugman's head. It's preventing any offense from Chugman, at least for the moment.
Chugman passes Reefer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Reefer is staying active underneath Chugman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reefer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jim Reefer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.

Klaus Chugman really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Brooklyn Apothecary logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
