PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Neves (ranked 2194 p4p, 3695 weight class) and Mitsugu Takeishi (ranked 111 p4p, 164 weight class). Takeishi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kabuki Gomen-Jyo kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mitsugu Takeishi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bruno Neves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitsugu Takeishi!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Takeishi.
A looping hook to the body misses from Takeishi. Neves does a little dance to reset his feet.
A little feinted left hand from Neves on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Takeishi tries to clinch up but Neves circles away and keeps his distance.
Neves uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Takeishi.

Takeishi takes the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neves is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Neves creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Takeishi misses with a hook from the clinch.
Takeishi misses with some punches.
Takeishi misses with a body punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neves tries to pull guard but Takeishi forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Takeishi misses with a punch on the inside.

Neves jumps guard.

Neves had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Takeishi defends it easily.
Neves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Takeishi manages to get himself to full guard.

Takeishi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Takeishi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neves is in close to Takeishi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Takeishi keeping moving, preventing Neves from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neves looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Neves trying to control but Takeishi is working from the bottom.
Neves tries to free his leg and advance position but Takeishi is retaining full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Takeishi keeping moving, preventing Neves from controlling successfully.
Neves stopping the sweep attempt from Takeishi.
Neves is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Gorilla Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neves being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neves thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Takeishi with a body punch. A glancing blow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Takeishi cracks Neves with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

It looks like Bruno Neves has been cut.

Takeishi instigates a clinch.
Takeishi working aggressively here.
Neves tries to pull guard but Takeishi forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Neves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Neves wants a takedown but no success here.
Takeishi scores with a hook to the body.
Neves is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Takeishi misses with a short punch on the inside.
Neves takes a shot to the head.
Takeishi lands a shot to the body.
Takeishi pushes Neves back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Takeishi works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mitsugu Takeishi dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bruno Neves's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Neves takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Takeishi clinches.

Takeishi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Takeishi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Neves changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Takeishi jabs at Neves's body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takeishi connects with a looping right hand.

Takeishi sends Neves crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Takeishi is motioning to the referee to let Neves up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Neves is rocked!

Bruno Neves's cut is getting worse.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Takeishi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Neves, pushing him back against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Takeishi.
Takeishi lands a right hand that snaps the head of Neves backwards.

Bruno Neves's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Neves.
Takeishi tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Neves's elbow.
Takeishi scores with a shoulder strike.
Takeishi scores with a nice hook to the head.
Takeishi swings wildly with an uppercut but Neves uses good head movement to avoid it.
Takeishi lands a hook to the side of the head.
Takeishi lands a nice uppercut.
Takeishi lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Oh Neves is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jeez, Bruno Neves's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Takeishi.
Neves seems to have got his legs back now.
Takeishi lands a shoulder strike.
Takeishi throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Nevess head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Neves takes a shot to the head.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bruno Neves's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Mitsugu Takeishi!
