Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dax Retkon (ranked 4379 p4p, 4415 weight class) and George Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dax Retkon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Retkon tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Anderson manages to circle out of the way.
Anderson misses with a head kick.
Anderson tries a low kick but Retkon avoids it.

Retkon gets caught napping as Anderson dives in and scores a takedown. Retkon manages to retain guard.
Retkon looking to control.
Retkon is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Anderson is controlling him.
Retkon throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Retkon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Anderson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Retkon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Retkon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Retkon!


Retkon decides to stand back up. Retkon steps back and let's Anderson get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Retkon.

Retkon gets caught flat footed, as Anderson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Retkon manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Anderson wants to get up but he can't break Retkon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Anderson wants to stand and escape but Retkon is having none of it.

Retkon stands and steps away. Anderson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Retkon goes for a double leg but Anderson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Anderson continues to drive forward.

Retkon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Horrible takedown attempt by Retkon or perhaps it was just good defense by Anderson, which made it look bad.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Retkon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Anderson walks away with a smile on his face. Retkon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Anderson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Retkon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Anderson somewhat.
Retkon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Retkon shoots in looking for a takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl out of it but Retkon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

As Anderson looks to move away, Retkon throws a big counter combo but Anderson just gets out of the way.
Dax Retkon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Anderson shoots in and bounces Retkon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Retkon scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Anderson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Retkon moves away.
Anderson loads up on a big right hand but Retkon slips the punch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Despite the aggression on Anderson's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Retkon tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Anderson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Anderson prevents the takedown attempt.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Retkon avoids the head kick by Anderson.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Anderson is trying to control the action in half guard but Retkon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A close second round but George Anderson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

A looping hook to the body misses from Anderson. Retkon does a little dance to reset his feet.
Retkon looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Retkon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Anderson pinned against the cage. Anderson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Retkon is trying to pull guard but Anderson has him pressed against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Retkon scores with a nice short uppercut.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Anderson throws a sloppy head kick and Retkon moves out of range easily.
Anderson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Retkon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Retkon is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Anderson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Anderson gets underhooks to prevent Retkon's takedown attempt.

Anderson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Retkon takes a kick to the side of the head.

Anderson shoots in and gets a takedown into Retkon's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Retkon looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dax Retkon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Anderson wants to control from the top but Retkon keeps moving.
Retkon is trying to hold Anderson in close to prevent damage but Anderson has managed to pass into half guard.

George Anderson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Anderson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
