And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 42 losses; Ruben Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Mulligan doesn't manage to clinch there - Gracie circles away.
Mulligan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away.

Mulligan gets caught flat footed, as Gracie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mulligan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gracie postures up.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Mulligan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mulligan manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Mulligan's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
My spies in Rivers Edge Gym inform me that Gracie has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Mulligan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gracie is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mulligan.

Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Mulligan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gracie might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mulligan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mulligan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mulligan tries to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Mulligan holds on for dear life, controlling Gracie's posture momentarily.
We've been hearing good reports from Mulligan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Gracie tries to control but Mulligan wriggling away.

Mulligan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gracie looking to control but Mulligan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Gracie has hold of Mulligan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mulligan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Mulligan reaches up to try and pull Gracie in and control his posture, but Gracie latches on to an arm and pivots quickly for an armbar! Mulligan taps out and this one is all over!
