With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mohammed Akbar Ii!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akbar Ii avoids the body shot from Williams.
Williams pivots, looking for a leg kick but Akbar Ii is out of range and Williams settles back down.
Akbar Ii lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Akbar Ii moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off.
Akbar Ii wants to clinch but Williams slips to the side

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Williams is thwarting Akbar Ii's attempts to control the position.
Akbar Ii is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Williams scores with a couple of nice shots.
Williams definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Akbar Ii is refusing to be controlled, as Williams sits in half guard.
Akbar Ii is trying to control but can't.
Williams looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Akbar Ii with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Williams is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Akbar Ii is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Williams pulls his head out easily.

Williams perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Williams, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
