PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Maseki (ranked 5957 p4p, 5373 weight class) and Jamahal Hill (ranked 537 p4p, 510 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nelson Maseki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jamahal Hill!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hill looking to score a takedown here. Maseki is defending well but Hill drives through and ends up in Maseki's guard.

Maseki wriggles free and stands up.

Hill closes the distance and clinches.
Maseki is trying to break the clinch but Hill is controlling him.
Maseki managing to block the knees to the body from Hill.
Maseki tries to score a body lock takedown but Hill shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hill pushes Maseki back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Hill manages to break the clinch.

Hill clinches up with Maseki and pushes him back against the cage.

Maseki has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hill clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Hill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maseki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Maseki seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Hill told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hill is trying to get back to his feet but Maseki has full control of the position and if anything, Hill has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Maseki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hill looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Maseki shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Maseki showed some decent athleticism there.
Hill won't allow Maseki to pass to mount.

Maseki jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hill is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hill and Maseki has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Maseki decides to stand back up. Maseki steps back and let's Hill get back to his feet.
Maseki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hill avoids it really well and circles away.
Hill lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Jamahal Hill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Maseki tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hill sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maseki somewhat.
Hill keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Maseki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hill tries to avoid it but Maseki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hill to the ground. Hill escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hill tries to escape back to his feet but Maseki has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Hill's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Hill is tapping! Maseki saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!
