Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ruud Altena (ranked 1502 p4p, 2838 weight class) and Clin Cartwright (ranked 208 p4p, 359 weight class). Altena comes to the cage accompanied by Grontapu by Double Rock. Cartwright has chosen Cirice as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright throws a shot from downtown. Altena moves away and avoids it.
Nice uppercut lands for Altena. That snapped Cartwright's head back.

Altena is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cartwright is controlling him.
Altena knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cartwright on the ground.

Cartwright gets control of Altena's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cartwright will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Cartwright escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Altena gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cartwright had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Altena defends it easily.

Cartwright is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Altena is aware though and is defending well.

Altena would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Altena stands up from Cartwright's guard - Altena perhaps looking for a knockout.
Altena tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cartwright paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Altena misses with a head kick.
Cartwright tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Ruud Altena has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clin Cartwright.

Altena tries a low kick but Cartwright avoids it.
Altena throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cartwright stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Cartwright dives in for a single leg takedown but Altena sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Altena attempts a counter takedown but Cartwright avoids it well and moves away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A jab from Altena finds it's way through Cartwright's defenses.
Altena throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Altena is looking to slow Cartwright down with leg kicks.
Cartwright moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Altena lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
