PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tayaen Porfirigo (ranked 3839 p4p, 5952 weight class) and Conor OShea (ranked 471 p4p, 589 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tayaen Porfirigo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 38 - 1, fighting out of London, Conor OShea!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
OShea throws a sloppy head kick and Porfirigo moves out of range easily.
Porfirigo was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
OShea lands a nice shot that snaps Porfirigo's head back.

OShea scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Porfirigo avoids the head kick by OShea.

Porfirigo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. OShea looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Porfirigo throws an elbow but OShea slips to the side and avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Porfirigo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so OShea is just riding it out for now. Porfirigo eventually gives up the hold.

OShea wants to get back to full guard but Porfirigo has passed into side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Porfirigo advances to mount.
Porfirigo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OShea swings for the body but Porfirigo moves out of range.
Porfirigo tries to counter by moving into the clinch but OShea manages to circle out of the way.

OShea throws a looping overhand right but Porfirigo ducks down to avoid it.
OShea misses with a left hand
and Porfirigo counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Porfirigo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Porfirigo darts in and clinches OShea up against the cage.
Porfirigo tries for a takedown. No joy.
Porfirigo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. OShea is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
OShea wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
OShea wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Porfirigo has him pressed against the cage.

OShea is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Porfirigo blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Porfirigo manages to break the clinch.

Porfirigo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Porfirigo escapes and gets back to his feet.
Porfirigo throws a body kick that misses.
Conor OShea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Porfirigo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into OShea's guard.
Porfirigo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tayaen Porfirigo dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Porfirigo! OShea is out on his feet! Porfirigo rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - OShea is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! OShea is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tayaen Porfirigo!
An out of breath Tayaen Porfirigo thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
