PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between World Peace (ranked 3187 p4p, 3500 weight class) and Killer Kid (ranked 188 p4p, 283 weight class). Peace comes into the arena with Crazy blaring out of the sound system. Kid has chosen The Machine as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, World Peace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Killer Kid!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid throws a hook but Peace blocks it.
Kid wants to clinch up but Peace keeps it at a distance.
Peace throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A little jabbing left from Kid on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Kid closes the distance and pushes Peace back into the cage.
Kid tries a knee to the head but Peace blocks it.
Kid lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

World Peace's cut is getting worse.
Kid's coach down at Pure Progress Fitness was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kid's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Peace blocks the elbow strike.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kid.
Peace is trying to pull guard but Kid turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Kid throws an elbow but misses.
Peace fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peace takes an elbow to the temple.
Kid comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Peace is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kid to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for World Peace. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Peace blocking some punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peace jumps guard but Kid turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Kid breaks from the clinch.

Kid has closed the distance and engaged Peace in a clinch.
Peace blocks an elbow strike.
Peace tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kid smiles and moves away.

Peace tries to keep at a distance but Kid has taken the fight into the clinch.
Peace jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kid walks away with a smile on his face. Peace gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Peace swings away with a body shot that misses
and Kid counters with a nice uppercut.
Kid looks to clinch

and Peace counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kid is trying to escape back to his feet but Peace uses the scramble to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kid tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Peace swings around for an armbar but Kid sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Peace's guard.
Peace being controlled here, momentarily.

Kid has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Peace to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kid is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Peace pulls down on the head and he's put Kid to sleep! This one is all over!
