PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zheng Fei (ranked 3783 p4p, 4988 weight class) and Rodrigo Medeiros (ranked 534 p4p, 615 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zheng Fei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Medeiros!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fei moves away from the strike by Medeiros.
Medeiros misses with an uppercut
and Fei counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The fighters circling - Fei throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Medeiros tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Medeiros shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fei as he jumps to the side.
A left lands for Fei.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Medeiros swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Fei counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Medeiros looks winded!

Fei drops Medeiros with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Medeiros looks back up at him and smiles so Fei waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Medeiros is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Medeiros swings away with a body shot that misses
and Fei counters with a huge right that knocks Medeiros out cold! Fei is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zheng Fei!
An out of breath Zheng Fei thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
