PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Caceres (ranked 951 p4p, 990 weight class) and Finlay Standifer (ranked 136 p4p, 142 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rickson Caceres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Finlay Standifer!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caceres shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Standifer napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Caceres tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Standifer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Caceres tries to move into full mount but can't pass Standifer's legs.

Caceres is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Standifer to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Standifer shrugs it off.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A lull in the action here as Standifer stalls from top position.

Let's hope that Standifer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rickson Caceres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Finlay Standifer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Standifer cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Standifer stalling away here and it's allowed Caceres to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
