PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaiso Rayhi (ranked 4350 p4p, 5052 weight class) and Michael Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen The Office as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Scott!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rayhi circles away from the clinch attempt.

Rayhi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scott pinned against the cage. Scott gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Scott throws a sloppy head kick and Rayhi moves out of range easily.

Rayhi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Scott has him pressed against the cage.

Scott is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rayhi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Scott to the mat. Scott regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Scott can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rayhi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Scott sprawls well initially but Rayhi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Scott pushes Rayhi off but Rayhi dives into side control.

Rayhi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Scott is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Rayhi decides to stand back up.

Rayhi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Scott working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rayhi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rayhi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rayhi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Scott can do to turn this around?
A left and a right from Rayhi both land. Nice combination.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rayhi or perhaps it was just good defense by Scott, which made it look bad.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rayhi connects with a nice short shot to Scott's temple.

Rayhi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Scott with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Rayhi is trying to control the action in half guard but Scott is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rayhi is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Scott wants to control but Rayhi passes into side.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rayhi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Scott is trying to defend but Rayhi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Scott is staying active underneath Rayhi , who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rayhi , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
