The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez avoids the body shot from Emperor.
Gomez misses with a body shot.
Gomez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gomez drops his hands momentarily and Emperor takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

It looks like Carlos Gomez has been cut.
Gomez lands with a right hand.

It looks like Fedor Emperor has been cut.
Gomez slips a jab from Emperor.
Carlos Gomez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomez scores with a hook to the body. Emperor takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Gomez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Emperor momentarily.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Emperor has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Emperor throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gomez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Gomez throws a right and a left that Emperor avoids nicely.
Emperor takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Gomez connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Emperor is still on wobbly legs! Can Gomez finish him?
Gomez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Emperor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gomez somewhat.
Gomez looks to land a body kick but Emperor moved away.
Gomez throws an uppercut from hell that sends Emperor clean off his feet! He's out cold! Gomez stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
