Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mma Jake (ranked 5674 p4p, 24169 weight class) and Solomon Obasi (ranked 627 p4p, 644 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mma Jake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Solomon Obasi!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obasi throws a push kick but Jake slaps the foot to one side.
Obasi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
An attempted straight right counter from Jake misses the target.
An inside leg kick from Obasi misses.
Obasi scores with a nice strike.
Jake uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Obasi.
Jake misses with a left hand

and Obasi moves into the clinch.
A shot in the inside from Obasi.

Obasi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jake gets caught flat footed, as Obasi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Obasi wants to control from the top but Jake keeps moving.
Obasi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Obasi trying to control the position from guard on top but Jake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Obasi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Obasi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Jake is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Obasi is aware though and is defending well.
Obasi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Obasi wants to control from the top but Jake keeps moving.

Jake bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Obasi's guard.

Jake avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've been hearing that Jake has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Obasi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jake defends it easily.

Obasi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jake drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Obasi dives on top into guard.

Jake has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Obasi is in close to Jake's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Obasi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jake's head.

Jake pulls Obasi in close to his closed guard and prevents Obasi from doing any damage or advancing position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jake missing with a left hand there. Obasi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jake sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Jake closes the distance and clinches up with Obasi, looking for a takedown. Jake pushes Obasi against the cage but Obasi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A chopping leg kick lands by Obasi.
Obasi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Obasi tries to counter with a clinch but Jake shakes him off and moves away.
Obasi throws a nice outside leg kick.
Jake shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Obasi but Obasi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Obasi slaps away a takedown attempt from Jake, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mma Jake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jake shoots in for a takedown but Obasi shows good takedown defense.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jake or perhaps it was just good defense by Obasi, which made it look bad.
Obasi tries to counter by closing the distance.
Mma Jake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Obasi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Obasi tries to move into range but Jake moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Obasi misses with a kick to the body.
Obasi blocks a jab.
Obasi scores with a shot to the body.
Jake with a poor takedown

and Obasi counters by moving into the clinch.
Jake's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Obasi digs a right hand underneath Jake's ribcage. Jake let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Obasi softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Obasi throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jakes head.
Obasi lands with a short shot to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Obasi has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jake clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Obasi has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Jake is in real trouble here. Obasi gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Jake is tapping out! Obasi wins by rear naked choke!
