PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harun Aydin (ranked 3916 p4p, 24282 weight class) and Hans Machiels (ranked 414 p4p, 500 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Aydin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mockingbird - Eminem. Hans Machiels has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machiels forces Aydin back against the cage and clinches.
Aydin tries to pull guard but Machiels holds him up against the cage and eventually Aydin drops back down to his feet.
Aydin lands a body shot in the clinch.

Aydin breaks from the clinch.
Aydin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Machiels darts in and clinches Aydin up against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Machiels just misses with a elbow thrown towards Aydin's brow.

Aydin is trying to break the clinch but Machiels is controlling him.
We've been informed that Machiels has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Aydin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Machiels throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Aydin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Hans Machiels has been cut.

Machiels gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Aydin tries to break the clinch but Machiels is controlling the position.
Aydin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Aydin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Machiels has him pressed against the cage.
Machiels creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Machiels lands a nice knee to the body.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aydin has his foot on Machiels's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Machiels works his way back into a safe position though.

Aydin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Machiels defends it easily.
Machiels wants to control from the top but Aydin keeps moving.

Aydin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Machiels doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Machiels manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've been hearing good reports from Aydin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Machiels is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Aydin wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Aydin is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Machiels has his hands clasped together but Aydin extends and breaks Machiels's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Aydin.

A relieved looking Harun Aydin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
