PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cass Ave (ranked 4623 p4p, 4496 weight class) and Peter Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cass Ave!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Pan!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Chris Dean and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ave closes the distance and clinches.
Pan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ave has him pressed against the cage.

Ave pulls Pan into guard.
Ave is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Pan tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Ave manages to move to mount!

Ave has control of Pan's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pan regains control of the situation pretty easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

You can see the frustration on Pan's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Ave controlling the position well here. Pan rolled but Ave kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Ave seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pan for as long as he can get away with.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pan is trying to get back to his feet but Ave has full control of the position and if anything, Pan has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Pan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ave swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pan throws a sloppy head kick and Ave moves out of range easily.

It looks like Cass Ave has been cut.
Ave shoots in for a takedown but Pan shows good takedown defense.

Pan tries to break free but Ave pushes him back against the cage.

Ave breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Ave feinted with a counter takedown.
Cass Ave is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ave changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pan tries to avoid it but Ave manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pan to the ground. Pan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ave bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pan's guard.

Ave is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pan is looking to stand back up but Ave counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Pan.

Ave escapes and gets back to his feet.
Pan lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ave fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pan wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ave shoots in but Pan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Pan throws a head kick that half lands.

Pan closes the distance and clinches up with Ave, looking for a takedown. Pan pushes Ave against the cage but Ave circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ave is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pan can do to turn this around?

Ave shoots in looking for a takedown. Pan tries to sprawl out of it but Ave keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Peter Pan will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Pan jumps guard but Ave stands there with Pan around his waist. Pan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ave feints a jab promting Pan to slip. Ave then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pan slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Ave closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Pan's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ave tries to score a body lock takedown but Pan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Pan is trying to push Ave away but Ave has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Pan throws a punch but it's blocked by Ave.

Pan throws a strike but Ave rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Pan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ave controls the pace.

Ave fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pan avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ave shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pan but Pan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ave dives in for a single leg takedown but Pan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Pan is looking to break free of the clinch but Ave has double underhooks.
Ave is trying to pull guard but Pan has him pressed against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pan is trying to force a seperation but Ave has the dominant position.
Pan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Peter Pan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cass Ave is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Pan just misses with a elbow thrown towards Ave's brow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cass Ave showed his dominance in that final round.
