Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Sherk (ranked 1851 p4p, 2391 weight class) and Kangaroo Jack (ranked 243 p4p, 304 weight class). Steve Sherk had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Sherk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kangaroo Jack!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherk misses with a straight right.
Sherk throws a right hand that misses
and Jack counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jack moves out of range of the strikes.
Jack has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Sherk is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Sherk misses with a hook
and Jack connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Steve Sherk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sherk on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jack. Jack obviously looking to wear him down.
Jack scores with a decent looking hook.
Sherk looks to land a right hand but Jack moved out of range.
Jack let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Sherk tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jack sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sherk somewhat.

and Jack counters with a one-two to the body.
Sherk walks into a stiff left hand from Jack.
Jack misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sherk was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sherk steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jack.
Sherk misses with a hook
and Jack counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Jack scores with a jab to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sherk is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sherk throws a hook to the side of Jack's head but Jack sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jack appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jack! But no joy.

Jack looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Sherk shoots in and drives through. Jack sprawls well.
Jack throws an overhand right that lands on Sherk's shoulder, as Sherk tries to avoid the shot.
Sherk half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Kangaroo Jack seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Sherk gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jack.

Sherk shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jack napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Jack is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sherk has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jack is pushing Sherk's head away, looking to escape. Sherk manages to hold on to the position though.

Jack is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Sherk looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jack is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
We've been hearing good reports from Sherk's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Sherk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Jack bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Sherk closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sherk is trying to control the action in half guard but Jack is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jack has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Sherk is on him like a limpet, forcing Jack back against the cage.
Sherk goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Jack escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sherk throws an off balance right hand
and Jack counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Good leg kick by Jack.
Jack looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sherk rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jack counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Jack's jab looks to have found its range, popping Sherk under the eye.
Jack scores with a decent looking hook.
Sherk drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jack lands a lovely overhand right.
Sherk lands the left hand.
Kangaroo Jack is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Sherk looks to throw the jab but Jack is out of range.
A countering left hand to the body from Jack misses.
Jack lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Steve Sherk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jack moves forwards but Sherk connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Kangaroo Jack comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jack winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
