Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jukka Purjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jukka Purjo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alan King!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Purjo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming King to the mat! King manages to get full guard.
King pulls Purjo in to control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if King can do anything to dispel that myth.
Purjo postures up in King's guard and throws a big left but King blocks it.
Purjo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Purjo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King is adopting a defensive guard.
Purjo showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Purjo advances position into side control!

The ground and pound from Purjo seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Purjo wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.
King on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Purjo tries to advance to mount but can't.

Purjo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Purjo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee asks Purjo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Purjo prefers to stall for the moment though.
King tries to bench press Purjo off him but Purjo keeps the position.
Purjo trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.
King avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Purjo.

Purjo scores with a couple of short elbows.
Purjo wants to control but King is keeping him busy.
Purjo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but King is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
King is trying to control Purjo's posture but Purjo avoids it.
Purjo passes to full mount! That's big trouble for King!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Purjo lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Purjo misses with an uppercut. King saw that one coming.
Purjo throws a right hand that King ducks under and follows up with a left that King also avoids with ease.
Purjo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.
Purjo stalks King and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into King's face. King staggers backwards, shaken.
Purjo throws an overhand right that lands on King's shoulder, as King tries to avoid the shot.
Purjo connects with a jab.
Purjo misses with a body kick.
King pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A jab from Purjo does it's job there.
Purjo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps King's head backwards.
Purjo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Purjo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but King was well out of range. Poor timing from Purjo.

Purjo throws a right and a left that King avoids nicely.
Alan King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Purjo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with King but King pushes him off and we're back to square one.
King fails with an attempt to clinch.
King shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Nice straight punches there by Purjo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Purjo.
Purjo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
King fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Purjo shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Purjo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jukka Purjo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Purjo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Purjo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Purjo tries for a takedown but King sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Purjo works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Purjo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

King fails to land with a series of punches.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
King scores with a nice right hand.
King stuffs the takedown.
King throws out a loose jab but Purjo uses good head movement to avoid it.
King attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Purjo scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Purjo lands a nice looking body shot.

King gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Purjo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
King keeping moving, preventing Purjo from controlling successfully.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Purjo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
King misses with a head kick.
Alan King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Purjo lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Purjo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but King manages to avoid it.
Purjo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before King has time to react.
Purjo throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily.
King checks the leg kick nicely there.
Purjo lands a head shot.
Purjo stuns King with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Purjo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as King sprawls well. King wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Purjo gets slowly back to his feet.
Jukka Purjo is winning the standup battle so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Purjo drops King with a right and a left! Purjo comes rushing in but King regains his composure and manages to keep Purjo in guard.


King is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Purjo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
King is still in real trouble! Can Purjo finish him?
Purjo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Purjo sitting in guard, not really doing much.
King seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jukka Purjo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Purjo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
