Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Ignatiev (ranked 2965 p4p, 3135 weight class) and Trond Asmundsen (ranked 357 p4p, 372 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ignatiev might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Beats That. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 28 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Trond Asmundsen!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asmundsen misses with a shot to the body
and Ignatiev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Trond Asmundsen has been cut.
Asmundsen wants to land a leg kick but Ignatiev is out of range.
Ignatiev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Asmundsen moves away.
Asmundsen throws a shot to the body.
Asmundsen takes one to the chin there.
Asmundsen shoots in for a double leg but Ignatiev sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ignatiev bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

and Ignatiev counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Ignatiev has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Asmundsen is on him like a limpet, forcing Ignatiev back against the cage.

Asmundsen looks up at the clock and then as Ignatiev takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Asmundsen smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Asmundsen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ignatiev, who protects the arm well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ignatiev is not content to let Asmundsen control the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Asmundsen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ignatiev on his heels. He'll look to pass Ignatiev's guard now, I'm sure.

Ignatiev cracks Asmundsen on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Asmundsen falls backwards against the cage. Ignatiev follows up with more strikes that drop Asmundsen to his knees. Ignatiev keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Asmundsen! This one is all over!
