Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gregor Orlav (ranked 4404 p4p, 4493 weight class) and Petr Yan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gregor Orlav could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Petr Yan's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gregor Orlav!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Petr Yan!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yan moves into the clinch.
Yan throws an elbow that misses.
Yan wants to break free but Orlav has control.
Orlav blocks the elbow strike.
With the fighters up against the cage, Yan throws an elbow but misses.
Orlav keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Yan's efforts to push away.

Yan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Orlav counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yan won't be happy with that.
Orlav controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Orlav's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Orlav seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Yan for as long as he can get away with.

Yan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Yan is in trouble now - Orlav has advanced to mount!

Orlav jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Yan manages to avoid the submission attempt.
You can see the frustration on Yan's face as Orlav controls the position.
Yan pushes Orlav away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Orlav gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Orlav goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Yan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Orlav but great work by Yan.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Yan wants to clinch up but Orlav keeps it at a distance.
Orlav tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Yan manages to circle out of the way.

Orlav is trying to pull guard but Yan has him pressed against the cage.

so Orlav counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Gregor Orlav overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Yan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Orlav off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

You get the feeling that Yan really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Orlav.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Yan's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Orlav avoids the attempt from Yan to control.
Yan is looking to get to half guard.
Orlav trying to control but Yan is having none of it.
Orlav lands a heavy elbow.

Yan tries to buck Orlav off but he can't manage it.
Orlav cracks Yan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Yan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Yan tries to hold on but Orlav postures up.
Yan is squirming around, avoiding Orlav's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yan really wants to buck Orlav off and get back to his feet.
Orlav wants to control but instead Yan manages to regain half guard.
Yan is looking to get back to is feet but Orlav passes into side control.
Yan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Orlav trying to control the action but Yan is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yan is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Orlav asserts his dominance and retains side control.

And that's the end of the fight!

I think Yan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
