The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vegas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shewmaker, pushing him back against the cage.
Shewmaker tries to land a knee to the head but Vegas blocks with his arms.

Still in the clinch, Shewmaker scores with a nice short uppercut.

Vegas ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Vegas no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Shewmaker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Vegas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vegas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Vegas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
