PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Projekti Yksi (ranked 3362 p4p, 3465 weight class) and Lingo Rex (ranked 463 p4p, 470 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yksi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Rex misses the body punch
and Yksi counters with a nice uppercut.
Yksi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rex on the side of the head.
Rex throws a big shot that misses.

Donk. Yksi catches Rex right on the button with a cross.
Yksi lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Yksi scores with a hook to the body. Rex takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

and Rex counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

A nice side step and Rex releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Yksi takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Yksi takes a swing at Rex's ribcage but misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Rex! But no joy.
Rex will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rex takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rex is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Let's hope that Rex has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That was a close round but I would say that Projekti Yksi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Yksi shoots for a double leg takedown but Rex sprawls well. He's pushed Yksi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rex throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Yksi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

It seemed like Rex was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Yksi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rex throws a shot from downtown. Yksi moves away and avoids it.

I would just about give that final round to Lingo Rex.
Well Rex has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
