Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gunnar Grimes !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Decker!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decker throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Grimes 's head.
Grimes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Decker avoids it really well and circles away.
We've been hearing reports that Grimes has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Decker throws a head kick but Grimes moves out of range.
Grimes shoots in looking for a takedown. Decker tries to sprawl out of it but Grimes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Decker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Grimes is defended easily by Decker.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gunnar Grimes . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Decker lands with a kick to the temple. Grimes shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Grimes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Decker defends well and Grimes ends up having to push Decker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Grimes tries to pull guard but Decker holds him up against the cage and eventually Grimes drops back down to his feet.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Decker.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grimes pulls guard successfully.
Grimes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Decker controls the pace.
Decker tries to free his leg and advance position but Grimes is retaining full guard.
Decker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Grimes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Decker defends well.

Grimes has his foot on Decker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Decker works his way back into a safe position though.

Grimes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Decker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Decker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Grimes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Grimes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Decker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Decker told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Decker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grimes . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
