PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gord Ryan (ranked 272 p4p, 703 weight class) and Robert Kelly (ranked 35 p4p, 100 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kelly's choice of entrance music: Rnb (feat. Bandit Gang Marco). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robert Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ryans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Ryan scores with a jab. Kelly acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Ryan moves out of range as Kelly strikes.
Ryan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Ryan throws the left hand but Kelly avoids the punch easily.

Ryan cracks Kelly with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kelly looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Ryan finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kelly lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ryan circles away quickly and effectively.
Ryan is looking to counter punch.
Kelly swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Ryan.
Ryan has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Ryan looks to throw the jab but Kelly is out of range.
Kelly feints the counter takedown.

Kelly throws a jab when Ryan was well out of range.
Kelly scores with a shot to the body.
Ryan misses the shot to the body.
Ryan waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kelly.
Ryan misses with an uppercut.
Ryan throws a hook but Kelly avoids it easily.
Ryan uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Ryan throws out a loose jab but Kelly uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ryan misses with an uppercut. Kelly saw that one coming.
Ryan throws a lazy uppercut
and Kelly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ryan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Kelly is rocked!
Ryan finds Kelly's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Kelly flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Ryan lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Kelly will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gord Ryan!
After winning the bout, Gord Ryan thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
