Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mathieu David (ranked 23462 p4p, 3226 weight class) and Patty O Reilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mathieu David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patty O Reilly!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

O Reilly closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming David to the mat! David manages to get full guard.
O Reilly is stalling in the full guard.
David keeping full guard, as O Reilly tries to pass.
O Reilly passes into half guard.
O Reilly sitting and controlling from the half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
O Reilly works his way into full mount!
O Reilly moves to take his opponent's back.

O Reilly controlling the position well here. David rolled but O Reilly kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Let's hope that O Reilly has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
David tries to break free.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
David is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by O Reilly.
It looks like O Reilly might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
David is trying to break free.

O Reilly is hanging on to David's back as he tries to escape.

O Reilly has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of David's body.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

O Reilly working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

O Reilly is persistently looking for the submission but David is defending it well.
O Reilly is not going to allow David to sit and survive in this position.

O Reilly is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

O Reilly doesn't manage to clinch there - David circles away.
O Reilly moves to clinch but David breaks away
and David connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

O Reilly drives through and clinches with David against the cage.

O Reilly drags the fight down to the ground.

O Reilly is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. David is aware though and is defending well.
David wanted to stand there but O Reilly had control of the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now O Reilly is on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
David has his hands on O Reilly's head, controlling the position.
David can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as O Reilly controls the pace.

O Reilly passes into half guard.
O Reilly passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for David!
O Reilly controlling his opponent.
David wants to control but O Reilly is having none of it.
O Reilly takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
O Reilly takes David's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, David is in trouble.

O Reilly just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
David wants to get back to his feet.
Patty O Reilly has got the better of the ground game so far.
I would not like to be David right now.
O Reilly is continuing to stall.

O Reilly controlling well, preventing David from escaping the position.
O Reilly has good solid back control here.

O Reilly working for a choke but David is defending well.
David is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

David is trying to stand back up.
O Reilly biding his time, controlling David.
Well, with O Reilly on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before David is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from O Reilly.

David can't escape the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Patty O Reilly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

O Reilly tries to clinch but David moves out of range.

O Reilly moves into the clinch.
David digs a right hand underneath O Reilly's ribcage. O Reilly let out a lung full of air as it connected.
O Reilly is trying to pull guard but David turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

O Reilly controlling the position.

David got a little sloppy there for a moment and O Reilly has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, David has managed to get both his arms back between O Reilly's legs - danger averted.
David is fighting to break O Reilly's control of his arms but O Reilly is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
David is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

O Reilly is looking for a triangle but David pushes his legs off easily.
O Reilly has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
O Reilly pulls David in close to his closed guard and prevents David from doing any damage or advancing position.

David wants to pass the guard but O Reilly is keeping the position.

David avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
David is stalling in the full guard.
David has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
O Reilly is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
David wants to stand but O Reilly is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
David avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
O Reilly shoots for a takedown but David saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

David darts in and clinches O Reilly up against the cage.

David pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mathieu David is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
David lands with an uppercut that bounces O Reilly off the cage and back into range.

O Reilly gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
O Reilly fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mathieu David has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patty O Reilly.
David stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

O Reilly is trying to pull guard but David turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
David struggles to land a body shot inside as O Reilly controls his hands.

O Reilly has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics David uses from the top position.

David stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. O Reilly swivels though and keeps the full guard.
O Reilly is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mathieu David showed his dominance in that final round.
I think O Reilly has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
