The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Ali'i.
Nice uppercut there from Grayce .
Ali'i thows a left - swing and a miss!
A swing and a miss from Ali'i.
Ali'i uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Grayce .
Ali'i ducks under a wild hook from Grayce .
Grayce slips under a jab from Ali'i.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ali'i.
Ali'i pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Grayce drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Grayce laying and praying for a moment but Ali'i takes advantage and regains half guard.
Grayce is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Grayce is trying to control the action in half guard but Ali'i is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ali'i felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Ali'i trying to hold on to Grayce 's head to control him but Grayce postures up.
Grayce is working for a kimura but Ali'i is defending it quite comfortably.
Grayce wants to work for an arm triangle but Ali'i is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Grayce seems to be looking for submissions.

Grayce works his foot free and advances to mount.
Grayce is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ali'i to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ali'i shrugs it off.
Grayce has control of Ali'i's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ali'i regains control of the situation pretty easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ali'i can do anything to dispel that myth.
Grayce looking for a guillotine from mount but Ali'i is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grayce looking to control and managing it successfully.

Grayce wants to control the action but instead Ali'i gets a body lock and reverses into Grayce 's guard! Nice work!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Grayce has his foot on Ali'i's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ali'i works his way back into a safe position though.
Grayce seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Grayce escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ali'i gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ali'i is posturing up here but Grayce has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Ali'i tries to roll out but it's too tight and Ali'i has to tap! Slick submission there by Grayce !
