PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wang Dong (ranked 1381 p4p, 1559 weight class) and Kent Dew (ranked 101 p4p, 120 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wang Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kent Dew!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dong rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Dew counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Dong is pressing down on Dew's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dong seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dew closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dong to the mat! Dong manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dong is stalling here. Dew is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Dong seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Dew has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Dew shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dong as he avoids it easily.

Dew changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dong tries to avoid it but Dew manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dong to the ground. Dong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dew shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dong pinned against the cage. Dong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wang Dong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kent Dew.

Dong wants to free his trapped foot but Dew is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Wang Dong has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dew felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
