PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Domingo Jaimes (ranked 3508 p4p, 4633 weight class) and Saidmohmad Usamov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saidmohmad Usamov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Domingo Jaimes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Saidmohmad Usamov!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Usamov wants to clinch
and Jaimes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jaimes fails to land with a series of punches.
Usamov slips a straight right by Jaimes.
Usamov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jaimes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Usamov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jaimes's waist but Jaimes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Usamov off to one side.
Jaimes throws a hook but Usamov avoids it easily.
Usamov was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Usamov throws a sloppy head kick
and Jaimes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Usamov shoots in for a takedown but Jaimes shows good takedown defense.
Jaimes appears to be looking for a big counter.
Domingo Jaimes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Saidmohmad Usamov.
Usamov tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Jaimes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Usamov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Usamov is looking to take a break and control but Jaimes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jaimes wants to improve his position but Usamov is controlling well.
Usamov missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Usamov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jaimes is staying active underneath Usamov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Usamov is working for a kimura but Jaimes is defending it quite comfortably.
Jaimes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Usamov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jaimes keeps working.

Usamov decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Jaimes stuns Usamov with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jaimes fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Jaimes connects with a nice looking jab.
Usamov looks to clinch
and Jaimes counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Usamov has his takedown stuffed
enabling Jaimes to counter with a crisp jab.
Usamov looks winded!

Jaimes cracks Usamov with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Usamov looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Jaimes finish him?

Usamov is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
OH! Usamov has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Jaimes smells blood and charges in for the finish! Jaimes unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Usamov sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
