Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Braynas Hlervu (ranked 25 p4p, 151 weight class) and Mickey Cowan (ranked 2 p4p, 10 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hlervu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Al Qawlu Qawlu Sawarim. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mickey Cowan!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowan motions for Hlervu to come forward. Cowan throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hlervu misses with a body kick.
Cowan misses with an uppercut
and Hlervu counters with a two punch combo.

Cowan lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hlervu backwards.

and Cowan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cowan missing with a left hand there. Hlervu was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Hlervu looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Cowan lands a head kick. Hlervu smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Hlervu definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hlervu is looking to wear down Cowan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Cowan throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hlervu counters with a stiff right hand.

Cowan is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hlervu with a body shot.
Hlervu takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

A head kick misses from Cowan.
Hlervu throws a sloppy body shot
and Cowan counters with a nice uppercut.
Hlervu throws a nice outside leg kick.
Cowan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Cowan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hlervu manages to avoid it.
Cowan clinches.
Cowan throws a punch but it's blocked by Hlervu.
Cowan tries to throw a body punch but Hlervu avoids it by throwing Cowan back against the cage.
Cowan lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Hlervu wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hlervu lands a shot to the body.
Cowan misses with some punches.

Hlervu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hlervu lands a jab.
Cowan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hlervu manages to avoid it.
An attempted straight right counter from Hlervu misses the target.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hlervu scores with a nice head shot.
Cowan is rocked!
Hlervu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hlervu throws a right hand that misses
and Cowan counters with a nice body kick.
Cowan takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Cowan is still on wobbly legs! Can Hlervu finish him?
The fighters circle momentarily. Hlervu darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Cowan moves out of range as Hlervu strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mickey Cowan will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hlervu lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hlervu keeps Cowan at a distance using the push kick.
Cowan tries to clinch but Hlervu is having none of it.
Cowan doesn't manage to clinch there - Hlervu circles away.
Cowan seems to have recovered his senses.
Hlervu sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Braynas Hlervu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hlervu ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Cowan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hlervu staying out of range there.
Hlervu steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Cowan. That one must have hurt.

Cowan tries to clinch but Hlervu moves out of range.
Hlervu dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Cowan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hlervu moves away.

A bone on bone clash there as Hlervu blocks the leg kick.
Cowan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Cowan has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Hlervu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cowan stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Hlervu connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Cowan momentarily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cowan.
Hlervu lands a big right hook! Cowan looks hurt but is still standing! Hlervu lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Cowan falls down and Hlervu dives in with a huge hammer fist! Cowan's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Hlervu runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Braynas Hlervu!

A very excited looking Braynas Hlervu made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
