The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balboa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Merra swivels and escapes.
Balboa shoots in but Merra avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Balboa misses with a takedown attempt - Merra sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocky Balboa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Merra moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Rocky Balboa has been cut.
Balboa dives in and grabs Merra's left leg, looking for a takedown. Merra pushes down on Balboa's head and hops out.
Merra scores with a sloppy right hand. Balboa should have avoided that one.
Balboa moves forwards but Merra connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Balboa shoots in looking for a takedown. Merra tries to sprawl out of it but Balboa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Merra manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Balboa takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Merra throws a right hand that Balboa ducks under and follows up with a left that Balboa also avoids with ease.
Horrible takedown by Balboa or perhaps it was just good defense by Merra which made him look bad.

Merra cracks Balboa with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Merra throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Balboa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Merra leaves Balboa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Merra works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Merra wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Balboa has him pressed against the cage.
Balboa has Merra pressed against the cage, preventing Merra from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Merra is looking to break free of the clinch but Balboa has double underhooks.
Balboa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Merra is defending well for now.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Balboa. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Balboa drops down looking for an ankle pick but Merra pulls his leg out and moves away.

Merra throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Balboa.

Merra takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Balboa takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Balboa shoots in for a takedown but Merra shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Merra lands a right hook to the body.
Merra wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Merra fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Balboa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Balboa needs to keep his hands up - Merra had a free shot at his head there.
Merra connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Balboa momentarily.
A slow jab from Merra misses its intended target.
Merra is working the combinations to good effect here.

Balboa passes the guard and advances to mount!
Balboa won't let Merra get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Balboa quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Balboa but it's paid off an Merra is forced to tap! Nice work by Balboa.
