Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Beta Tua (ranked 21783 p4p, 2904 weight class) and Roberto Congo (ranked 617 p4p, 399 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tua misses with a telegraphed body shot
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Tua rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Congo counters with a nice low kick that buckles Tua's knee momentarily.
Tua blocks a jab.
Tua dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Congo. That did some damage!
Tua throws a body shot but no joy.
Congo moves out of range of the body kick from Tua.
Tua throws a leg kick which misses Congo's front leg but catches the back leg as Congo tries to avoid it.
Tua throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Congo throws a counter combo.
Tua lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tua takes a swing at Congo's ribcage but misses.
Tua misses the jab.
Congo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

It looks like Beta Tua has been cut.
Beta Tua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A slapping leg kick lands for Tua.
Tua has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Mary Gracies Jiu Jitsu in the buildup to the fight.
Tua missing with a left hand there. Congo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Tua throws a low kick but Congo avoids it.
Congo tries a quick counter leg kick but Tua is wise to it.
Tua pivots, looking for a leg kick but Congo is out of range and Tua settles back down.
Congo lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

It looks like Roberto Congo has been cut.
Tua cracks Congo with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Good exchange - Tua coming out on top.
Congo throws a half hearted mid kick.
A punch combination from Congo misses.
Tua throws a lazy right hand but Congo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Tua throws a body punch but Congo moves out of range.
Tua throws a head kick that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tua is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tua swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Tua cracks Congo with a left hand that drops him to the canvas, up against the ropes! Can Congo get back up in time? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... he's on one knee... 8, 9... he's up! 'Walk towards me' says the referee. Congo looks steady enough to continue so we're going to continue!

Congo is rocked!

That has opened up Roberto Congo's cut even more.
Congo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Tua throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Congo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Tua lands a nice shot that snaps Congo's head back.
Congo is still on wobbly legs! Can Tua finish him?
Tua scores with a hook to the body. Congo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Congo seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tua throws a leg kick which misses Congo's front leg but catches the back leg as Congo tries to avoid it.

and Congo counters with a series of strikes. Tua will be more careful next time no doubt.

Congo walks into a big right hand from Tua and goes down! The referee sends Tua to a neutral corner as Congo gets back to his feet. He looks OK so we're back under way.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Beta Tua takes that one as he scored multiple knockdowns. Roberto Congo was lucky to get out of the first round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Tua connects with a quick right hand that sends Congo tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!

A relieved looking Beta Tua thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
