PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dude Dukes (ranked 24076 p4p, 24807 weight class) and Daniel DC (ranked 625 p4p, 639 weight class). DC has chosen Wolf Totem as his entrance music. Dude Dukes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dude Dukes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel DC!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DC takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dukes.
DC drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dukes defends it well.
Dukes tries to clinch up.
Dude Dukes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dukes ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

DC throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dukes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. DC is in Dukes's guard.

Dukes is looking for a triangle but DC pushes his legs off easily.

Dukes working for submissions but it's allowed DC to get to half guard.

Dukes kicks DC off and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dukes shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. DC eats them both and turns towards Dukes to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Dukes's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Dukes duly obliges.
Dukes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

DC closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dukes's guard.
DC really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dukes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dukes is breathing heavily.

Dukes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

DC thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Dukes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but DC can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

DC drops back looking for a leg! Dukes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dukes manages to kick DC off! DC jumps back into Dukes's guard.
Dukes seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Dukes wants to stand but DC is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
DC trying to control but Dukes is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

DC with the counter takedown but Dukes avoids it easily.
We've been informed that DC has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
DC will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dukes has taken the fight to the clinch.
DC is working for takedown but Dukes is calmly controlling the position for now.
Dukes wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dukes takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

DC got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dukes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, DC has managed to get both his arms back between Dukes's legs - danger averted.

Dukes manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

DC gets a trip takedown into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dukes shoots in but no luck this time.

DC working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
DC moves into full mount! Dukes won't be happy about that!

DC has control of Dukes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dukes regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Dukes tries to hold on but DC pushes him away.

DC thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Dukes is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Dukes is pressing down on DC's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Dukes tries to circle away but DC has him pinned against the cage.

Dukes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Dukes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with DC but DC pushes him off and we're back to square one.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

DC shoots in looking for a takedown. Dukes tries to sprawl out of it but DC keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dukes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and DC counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DC stands up and waves to Dukes to follow him.

Dukes leaves DC with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
DC rolls, trying to escape but Dukes keeps control of the position.
Dukes doesn't have the hooks in and DC manages to turn into his guard.

DC drops back looking for a leg! Dukes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dukes manages to kick DC off! DC jumps back into Dukes's guard.
Dude Dukes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dukes holds on and takes a little breather.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dude Dukes.
Well Dukes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
