The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spencer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pilao avoids it really well and circles away.
Pilao comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Spencer shoots in for a double leg but Pilao sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Spencer has his takedown stuffed
enabling Pilao to counter with a crisp jab.
Gilberto Pilao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robin Spencer.
Pilao misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Spencer.
Spencer doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Pilao counters with a lovely shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pilao misses with a head kick.
Spencer shoots for a takedown but Pilao saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Spencer closes the distance and clinches up with Pilao, looking for a takedown. Spencer pushes Pilao against the cage but Pilao circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Spencer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pilao fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Pilao cracks Spencer with a good jab.
Pilao misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Whack! Pilao lands a heavy head kick that drops Spencer. The ref tackles Pilao to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Spencer was done.
