Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nedjeljko Markovic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Milan Ponjevic!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ponjevic scores with a hook to the body. Markovic takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Markovic looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ponjevic lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Markovic takes a swing at Ponjevic's ribcage but misses.
Nice shot lands for Markovic.

Markovic gets caught napping as Ponjevic dives in and scores a takedown. Markovic manages to retain guard.

Ponjevic is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ponjevic's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ponjevic wants to pass the guard but Markovic is keeping the position.

Ponjevic drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ponjevic jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Markovic keeping moving, preventing Ponjevic from controlling successfully.

Ponjevic drops back, looking for a kneebar! Markovic looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Markovic looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Markovic!

Ponjevic is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ponjevic parries the strikes from Markovic easily there. Markovic is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ponjevic to escape.
Ponjevic looks to move to half guard but instead Markovic has passed into mount! Damn!
Ponjevic is in all sorts of trouble here.
Ponjevic is still trying to improve position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Markovic misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Ponjevic is trying desperately to improve position.
Ponjevic keeps trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Markovic controlling from mount.
Ponjevic can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Markovic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ponjevic on the ground.
Ponjevic is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Milan Ponjevic will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Ponjevic fails with the takedown
and Ponjevic takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Markovic misses with a right hand

and Ponjevic counters with a nice double leg into side control. Markovic won't be happy with that.

Ponjevic thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ponjevic working away.

Ponjevic in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Markovic is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Milan Ponjevic!
