PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Toke Axelsen (ranked 903 p4p, 1312 weight class) and Bone Breaker (ranked 119 p4p, 172 weight class). Axelsen comes to the cage accompanied by Slipknot - The Virus of Life. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Toke Axelsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bone Breaker!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Breaker dives in and grabs Axelsen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Axelsen pushes down on Breaker's head and hops out.
Breaker cracks a nice hook into Axelsen's ribs.
Axelsen is looking to slow Breaker down with leg kicks.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Breaker has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Breaker.
Breaker fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Toke Axelsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bone Breaker.

Breaker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Bone Breaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Breaker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Axelsen's waist but Axelsen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Breaker off to one side.
Axelsen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Axelsen defending well as Breaker loads up on a big left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Breaker closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Axelsen's guard.
Axelsen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Breaker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Axelsen is keeping the position for now.
Breaker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Axelsen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Breaker is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Axelsen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Axelsen has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Axelsen passes Breaker's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Breaker is looking for a sweep. Axelsen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Axelsen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Axelsen continues to stall.
Breaker is controlling Axelsen's posture.

Breaker looking for a guillotine here but Axelsen defends easily.
Axelsen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Breaker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Breaker is trying to control the position but Axelsen postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Toke Axelsen will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Breaker takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Axelsen looks to land a left hand but Breaker moved out of range nicely.
Axelsen misses with the combination.
Breaker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Axelsen avoids it really well and circles away.
Breaker connects with a right hand. Axelsen shakes it off.
Axelsen leaves Breaker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It looked like Axelsen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Axelsen lands an overhand right.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Axelsen scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Axelsen seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Breaker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Axelsen's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Breaker works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Breaker wants to pass to mount but Axelsen is defending the position.

Breaker is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Axelsen trying to hold on to Breaker's head to control him but Breaker postures up.
Axelsen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Breaker on the ground.
Breaker is keen to just control but Axelsen is a slippery customer.
Breaker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Axelsen is pressing down on Breaker's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Axelsen is pulling down on Breaker's head to control his posture.
Bone Breaker has got the better of the ground game so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Axelsen keeping moving, preventing Breaker from controlling successfully.
Axelsen trying to keep a closed guard but Breaker is proving a slippery customer.
Breaker won't allow Axelsen to get back to his feet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Breaker lands with an uppercut that bounces Axelsen off the cage and back into range.
Breaker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Axelsen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Breaker somewhat.
Toke Axelsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bone Breaker.

Breaker drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Breaker is looking to take a break and control but Axelsen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Breaker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Breaker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Breaker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Axelsen has escaped the position, nice work there.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Bone Breaker will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Breaker slips a jab and a cross from Axelsen.
Breaker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Axelsen sprawls well. Axelsen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Breaker gets slowly back to his feet.
Axelsen getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Axelsen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Breaker manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Axelsen on his heels. He'll look to pass Axelsen's guard now, I'm sure.

Axelsen tries to buck Breaker off but he can't manage it.
Axelsen is wriggling around trying to escape.

Axelsen is looking to get to half guard.
Axelsen reaches up to try and control the position but Breaker seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Axelsen rolls and tries to escape and now Breaker has his back!

Breaker working for a choke but Axelsen is defending well.

Breaker has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Axelsen is defending well but eventually Breaker manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Axelsen has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bone Breaker!
