PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Ochoa (ranked 123 p4p, 310 weight class) and Oscar Gage (ranked 20 p4p, 49 weight class). Ochoa comes to the cage accompanied by Gang Signs by The Game. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Ochoa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Gage!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ochoa showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gage.
Gage fails with a takedown attempt.
Gage misses the shot to the body.
A counter left hand to the body from Ochoa misses its target.
Ochoa has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Primal Concrete Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Gage misses with a lunging right hand
and Ochoa counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gage throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Oscar Gage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

As Gage looks to move away, Ochoa throws a big counter combo but Gage just gets out of the way.
Gage looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Ochoa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gage.
And Gage tries to counter it with a takedown but Ochoa pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Ochoa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ochoa works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Ochoa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gage.

Gage walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Gage loads up on a big right hand but Ochoa slips the punch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gage is defended easily by Ochoa.
Anthony Ochoa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oscar Gage.
Gage takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Gage shoots in for a takedown but Ochoa shows good takedown defense.

Ochoa is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Gage shoots in and drives through. Ochoa sprawls well.

Gage closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gage working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Gage is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Ochoa is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gage is trying to get an arm triangle but Ochoa is defending well.
Ochoa takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Gage thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Gage tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gage has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Oscar Gage will probably get the nod.
That's time! Ochoa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ochoa throws a lazy right hand but Gage sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gage misses with a series of wild punches.
Gage fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gage misses with a two punch combination.
Ochoa connects with a body shot.
Gage misses the shot to the body.
Gage slips a straight right by Ochoa.
Gage loads up on a big right hand but Ochoa slips the punch.
Ochoa throws a looping overhand right but Gage ducks down to avoid it.
Gage shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ochoa pinned against the cage. Ochoa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gage throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ochoa was covering up waiting for the punch and Gage finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gage not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ochoa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gage on the ground.

Gage misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Gage throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Ochoa tries to lock up and control but Gage gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gage can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ochoa is looking to escape.

Gage wants to finish this one by submission but Ochoa is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gage.

Oscar Gage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gage's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ochoa connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gage scrambles back to his feet.

Gage shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ochoa as he jumps to the side.
Ochoa uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Gage cracks Ochoa with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Ochoa cracks Gage with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Gage falls to his knees and Ochoa doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Anthony Ochoa!
A very excited looking Anthony Ochoa made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
