PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shinnosuke Nakagawa (ranked 61 p4p, 75 weight class) and Tanaka Matsuda (ranked 8 p4p, 13 weight class). Nakagawa comes to the cage accompanied by Koto - CloZee. Matsuda has chosen Gojira - Another World as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shinnosuke Nakagawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tanaka Matsuda!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsuda takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nice body punch from Matsuda.
Nakagawa doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Matsuda looks to land a left hand but Nakagawa moved out of range nicely.
Matsuda thows a left - swing and a miss!
Matsuda throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
As Matsuda tries to get set, Nakagawa tries to push him back and clinch up but Matsuda manages to avoid the attempt.
Nakagawa keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Matsuda throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nakagawa sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nakagawa tries to counter with a takedown but Matsuda is quick to defend against it.
Tanaka Matsuda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Matsuda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Nakagawa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Matsuda won't be happy with that.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Matsuda sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Matsuda is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nakagawa pulls his head out easily.

Nakagawa throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Nakagawa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Nakagawa is looking for a kimura but Matsuda is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nakagawa to get the leverage.
Matsuda wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nakagawa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Matsuda keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Matsuda controls Nakagawa momentarily but Nakagawa frees himself.

Nakagawa drops back looking for a leg! Matsuda is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Matsuda manages to kick Nakagawa off! Nakagawa jumps back into Matsuda's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nakagawa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Matsuda manages to avoid it.
Matsuda tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Matsuda misses with a straight right.

Matsuda gets a double leg takedown into Nakagawa's guard.
Matsuda tries to free his leg and advance position but Nakagawa is retaining full guard.
Nakagawa wants to sweep but no luck.

Nakagawa has his foot on Matsuda's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Matsuda works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Shinnosuke Nakagawa will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tanaka Matsuda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Matsuda is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Nakagawa rather than just go for the knockout.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Matsuda throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nakagawa escapes and throws Matsuda's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Nakagawa tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Matsuda tries to improve position but can't.

Shinnosuke Nakagawa showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Nakagawa has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
