Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Petcharon Darawan (ranked 925 p4p, 1507 weight class) and Frankie Mir (ranked 89 p4p, 140 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Petcharon Darawan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frankie Mir!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darawan connects with a leg kick.
Darawan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Mir shoots in for a takedown but Darawan shows good takedown defense.

Mir walks into a left hand.
Darawan scores with a jab. Mir acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Mir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Darawan is fending him off so far but Mir persists. Nope, Darawan circles away and we're back to standing.
Darawan throws a quick counter head kick but Mir was just out of range.
Petcharon Darawan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frankie Mir.
No luck for Mir with that takedown attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Darawan on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Darawan lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Darawan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Darawan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mir.

and Mir counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mir is looking to work some ground and pound but Darawan has wrist control.
Mir content to stall in guard here.
Darawan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Mir is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Darawan defends well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mir is striking from the bottom but Darawan uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Mir is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Darawan jumps into side control!

Darawan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mir to his feet.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mir lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mir wants to free his trapped foot but Darawan is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Mir seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Darawan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mir controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Mir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Darawan tries to avoid it but Mir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Darawan to the ground. Darawan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Darawan misses with a body punch
and Mir counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Darawan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mir sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mir avoids the body shot from Darawan.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mir slips a straight right by Darawan.
Mir shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Mir shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Darawan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mir drops back, looking for a kneebar! Darawan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Darawan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Darawan!

Mir is looking to get back to his feet here but Darawan is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mir's back.
Darawan is trying to stick to Mir's back but Mir is turning into Darawan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Darawan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Mir.
Mir throws a strike but Darawan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Mir bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Darawan's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

That was a close second round but I would say that Petcharon Darawan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Darawan is looking for a sweep.
Mir looks up at the clock and then as Darawan takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mir smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Mir has hold of Darawan's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Darawan tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mir cranks the arm and Darawan screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Darawan, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Frankie Mir!
An out of breath Frankie Mir thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
