Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Suzaku Kururugi (ranked 22410 p4p, 3490 weight class) and Samson Komua (ranked 569 p4p, 393 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Suzaku Kururugi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Samson Komua!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kururugi fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Komua checks it well.
Kururugi throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
It seemed like Komua was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Kururugi throws a big shot that misses.
Kururugi throws a body punch but Komua moves out of range.
Komua shapes to counter with a head kick.
Komua fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The crowd cheers as Kururugi lands an impressive looking overhand right. Komua doesn't seem phased though.
Kururugi avoids the head kick by Komua.
Kururugi tries to move into range but Komua moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Decent striking displayed by Komua there.
Komua cracks Kururugi with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Komua throws a quick inside leg kick.
Komua has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Komua there as he acknowledges the shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Kururugi counters with a stiff right hand.
Kururugi blocks a head kick by Komua.

Kururugi throws a jab when Komua was well out of range.
Kururugi lands the left hand.
A clash of legs there as Komua blocks the low kick.
Komua avoids a kick to the body.
Komua's coach down at Island Kings Lua MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Komua's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Komua misses with a straight left.
Kururugi was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kururugi connects with a solid leg kick.
Komua throws a leg kick that misses.
Komua throws a quick inside leg kick.
Komua shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Samson Komua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Komua throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kururugi's head.
Kururugi connects with a solid leg kick.
Komua swings for the body but Kururugi moves out of range.
Komua throws a right hand that misses
and Kururugi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kururugi throws a wild body kick that Komua sees coming a mile off.
Kururugi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Komua misses with an uppercut. Kururugi saw that one coming.
Komua tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Komua moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kururugi avoids the body shot from Komua.
Kururugi throws a jab but it's blocked by Komua.
Kururugi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Komua.
Komua throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kururugi counters with a right hand to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Komua.
Komua tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kururugi is able to avoid easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A slow jab from Komua misses its intended target.
Komua throws a lazy uppercut
and Kururugi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Komua throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Komua throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Komua misses with a wild body shot.
It appears Kururugi was looking to counter with a kick there.
Komua showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kururugi.
Kururugi lands a nice shot to the body.
Kururugi lands a nice shot that snaps Komua's head back.
A left lands for Komua.
We've been told by Kururugi's head coaches at Thunder Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A thudding body kick lands there by Kururugi!
Komua throws an overhand right that lands on Kururugi's shoulder, as Kururugi tries to avoid the shot.

Komua throws out a loose jab but Kururugi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kururugi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Komua.
Komua throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kururugi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kururugi jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Komua misses with a combination
and Kururugi counters with a nice leg kick.
Komua lands with a kick to the temple. Kururugi shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Komua chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kururugi can pounce on him.
Good exchange - Komua coming out on top.
Kururugi throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kururugi connects with an inside leg kick.
Komua takes a shot right to the bread basket.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Suzaku Kururugi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Komua counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Komua lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Komua tried to score with a low kick but Kururugi checks it.
Kururugi checks a leg kick.
Komua misses with a straight right.
Komua is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kururugi.
Komua connects with a high kick.
Komua throws a lazy head kick
letting Kururugi counter with a right hand.
Komua throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kururugi punishes Komua's body with a nice straight punch.
Komua throws a poor cross that misses
and Kururugi counters with a straight right hand.
Komua thumps Kururugi with a low kick.
Komua misses with a body punch
and Kururugi finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Komua lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kururugi circles away quickly and effectively.
Komua is breathing heavily.
Kururugi darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kururugi cracks Komua with a hook to the temple - Komua is on wobbly legs here! Kururugi swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Komua falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Kururugi wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Suzaku Kururugi!
During a confident post fight interview, Suzaku Kururugi thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
