PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Fazoli (ranked 4242 p4p, 4327 weight class) and Christian VanSickle (ranked 197 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fazoli might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Real American. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Darius Henderson and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanSickle stuffs the takedown attempt from Fazoli. Fazoli gets slowly back to his feet.
Fazoli fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Fazoli jumps guard.
VanSickle trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
VanSickle wants to stand and escape but instead Fazoli has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fazoli connects with a couple of short punches.

VanSickle is working an open guard so Fazoli takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

VanSickle tries a head kick but it misses.
Fazoli's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Fazoli duly obliges.
VanSickle has a takedown stuffed.
Fazoli appears to be looking for a big counter.
Fazoli throws a right and a left that VanSickle avoids nicely.
VanSickle blocks a leg kick.
VanSickle slips a jab and a cross from Fazoli.
And VanSickle tries to counter it with a takedown but Fazoli pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Tommy Fazoli has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christian VanSickle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

VanSickle seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Fazoli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. VanSickle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

VanSickle has momentary wrist control but Fazoli slips an elbow through the middle.

Fazoli postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
VanSickle controls Fazoli momentarily but Fazoli frees himself.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Fazoli tries to free his leg and advance position but VanSickle is retaining full guard.

Fazoli gets to his feet. VanSickle looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

VanSickle is looking for a sweep. Fazoli is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fazoli throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Fazoli seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Fazoli is trying to control the action in half guard but VanSickle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fazoli landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fazoli connects with a nice short shot to VanSickle's temple.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

VanSickle is refusing to be controlled, as Fazoli sits in half guard.
VanSickle wants to improve his position but Fazoli is controlling well.
Fazoli drops an elbow to the side of VanSickle's head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Oooooh!!! Fazoli has knocked VanSickle down with a huge combo! Fazoli steps away and waves a wobbly VanSickle back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Fazoli lands a big right hook! VanSickle looks hurt but is still standing! Fazoli lands a left jab and another right hook! This time VanSickle falls down and Fazoli dives in with a huge hammer fist! VanSickle's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Fazoli runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

Tommy Fazoli was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
